Dr Saad Al-Khalaf
Dr Saad Al-Khalaf is an experienced consultant general psychiatrist based in Guildford, Surrey. He also covers a portion of Hampshire and London. He specialises in the treatment of persistent mental illness and older adult psychiatry. He has a special interest in organic psychiatry depression, anxiety and apathy (particularly treatment-resistant depression) and memory impairment, including dementia. Dr. Jennifer Laidlaw
Jennifer Laidlaw earned her MD from the University of British Columbia before completing a residency in psychiatry. During her residency she was actively involved in medical education. She has presented at international conferences and published on the topic of screening for delirium, as well as professionalism and social media. She began her career as the head of Consultation Liaison (CL) Psychiatry at Surrey Memorial Hospital where she focused on building a thriving and highly collaborative CL service that provides psychiatric care to patients on medical and surgical wards including the palliative and oncology units. She was also awarded an Facilities Engagement grant to develop guidelines on how to manage vulnerable patients in the hospital.
She is the Provincial Practice Leader for Psychiatry at BC Cancer, Clinical Associate Professor at UBC and Past-President of the BC Psychiatric Association. She is also an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Tufts University School of Medicine and an adjunct faculty member of the UM PMR and Family Medicine residency programs. She has a longstanding interest in research and education on musculoskeletal issues. She currently teaches Neuromuscular and musculoskeletal medicine to the Family Medicine residents and has ongoing research projects in musculoskeletal education electrodiagnostic medicine, as well as performing arts medicine.
Dr. Pulkit Singh completed her medical degree at the University of New South Wales prior to completing her Psychiatry residency at the University of British Columbia. She received the Undergraduate Teaching Award and the Psychotherapy Award during her residency to acknowledge her achievements in these areas. She has worked in various areas of Psychiatry and has a keen interest in Psycho-oncology, Addiction Psychiatry, Cardiac Psychiatry and General Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Nadeesha Fernando is a psychiatrist who treats adults of all ages in BC Cancer. She has a strong interest in Psycho-oncology and particularly is a fan of working with older adults. She has a long-standing passion in geriatric psychiatry and has served as a consultant for the Geriatric Psychiatry Consult Liaison Service and the ECT service at Vancouver General Hospital. She is a mentor and teacher for medical students and residents.
Dr. Theresa Lo
Dr Theresa Lo is a graduate of the University of British Columbia, where she completed her medical school and residency in psychiatry. She has worked for the BC Cancer Agency and Surrey Mental Health. She also has a psychotherapy practice that she has been practicing for a while, including dialectical behavioural therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is fluent in Cantonese.
Dr. Karim is a member of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and trained at Guy's King's St Thomas', St George's and St George's Hospitals in London. She is on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council and has been practising psychiatry for over 20 years. She is interested in psychotherapy for children and adolescents.Dr. Richford started her career as a nurse. She then went on to study medicine, receiving her MD from Dalhousie. She has since worked in various areas of Psychiatry, particularly in Psycho-oncology and Addiction Psychiatry and Consultation Liaison Psychiatry. She is a psychiatrist on staff for Providence Health Care, Vancouver General Hospital and BC Cancer Vancouver, as well a Clinical Associate Professor at UBC. She was the former president of the British Columbia Psychiatric Association.
